Tillie Carlson, 83, Dies; Rites Are Conducted
Alma Otelia (Tillie) Carlson, 83, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday [January 16, 1970] at Holy Family Hospital. She had suffered a stroke in the Fareway Store earlier in the afternoon.She was born Oct. 25, 1886, at Carman, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Carlson. She received her education in the Carman, Ill., schools and attended Burlington Business College.
In 1914, she moved to Ringsted and in 1959, she moved to Estherville. She was active in the Red Cross during World War I, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. Among them are Raymond Edwards and Earl McIntire, Armstrong, and Mrs. Burl Ridout, Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Funeral services were to be Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong with burial in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Slaba-Reese Funeral Home in Armstrong is in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 19, 1970)
