Dies at His Brother’s Home
Arthur J. Burdette, 75, Spencer area farmer, died yesterday about 4 p.m. at the home of his brother, E.L. Burdette of near Graettinger. The Spencer man had been spending a few days with his brother and the two had been out in a field with a tractor. Both were riding back to the farmyard on the machine and Arthur Burdette got off to open a gate. Just as he reached it he suffered a heart attack. His brother administered artificial respiration and Mr. Burdette regained consciousness. His brother got help to take him to the house but as they reached there Mr. Burdette suffered a second attack and died. His body was taken to the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Graettinger but today was moved to a funeral home in Spencer. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 20, 1963)
