Mrs. A.J. Bosworth Has Passed On
Died on Tuesday Evening after a Long Illness – Funeral Last Tuesday night, after a lingering dreadful illness from that fell disease of the kidneys, Bright’s disease. For the past two or three weeks she has suffered all the agonies of which a human being was capable, and death came at last as a blessed relief from her awful sufferings. She died peaceably and without a struggle when the final summons came, and simply dropped to sleep like a weary child.

Her husband, father and mother, sister and brother, and one or two friends, besides her children were present at her side to the last. Her illness has extended for the most part over about two years. She first suffered a stroke of paralysis on December 28, 1914, and for even a year or two previous to that her health had been weakened. She was a patient sufferer always trying to see the bright side, and expressing appreciation for the many good things she could be thankful for. No words can express the long suffering which this fine woman passed through, and through it all she maintained a firm belief in the blessed hereafter and had long ago made peace with her God, and was fully prepared to enter upon her last journey. Let us trust that with the ending of her terrible physical sufferings her spiritual reward and happiness has commenced.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the family resident. Rev. J.F. Catlin, Baptist minister from Estherville, conducted the spiritual obsequies, and interment made in the lovely Armstrong cemetery. Undertaker A.L. Loomer prepared the remains for burial and she presented a picture of the purest sweetness as she lay in her casket surrounded by the beautiful flowers which had been sent.

All that human ingenuity could accomplish had been done for her by devoted husband. Treatments by a Des Moines specialist and a Chicago healthatorium where she spent many weeks, proved unable to combat the fatal malady.

Hattie Zoe Deming was born on September 6, 1876, at Prescott, Kansas, thus making her age thirty-six years, four months and nine days. She was the eldest daughter of Smith and Emma Deming and her early childhood was spent in Kansas and Missouri. At thirteen years of age she went with her parents to Marseilles, Illinois, where her young womanhood was spent. At about this time she joined the Baptist church at Marseilles and was a true and faithful member. On October 12, 1898, she was united in marriage to Albert J. Bosworth. Two children were born to them being Harry Deming and Ivy Carrie, now aged fifteen and thirteen years. She is survived by these two children, a loving husband, two brothers, Caleb and Wm. E. and one sister, Mrs. John L. Osgood, besides her parents. She was a kind and devoted mother, a true and faithful wife, a loving a dutiful daughter.

Besides these she leaves many a mourning friend from her neighbor acquaintances in this city and surrounding country, where she has resided for many years. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved relatives and her sad departure is a source of sincere regret to all. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 23, 1916)
