Ringsted – Funeral services for Helen Baldwin, 93, of Ringsted will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted. She died on Sept. 13 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 14, 2005)

Helen Salinda Nielsen, the daughter of Chris F. and Christina (Sorensen) Nielsen, was born June 16, 1912, in Armstrong, Iowa. She died Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 93 years.

She moved to Seneca, Iowa, as a child with her family. She received her education in the Seneca Consolidated School graduating in 1930.

On September 6, 1935, Helen was united in marriage to Cecil C. Baldwin at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ringsted, Iowa. After their marriage the couple made their home in Armstrong, Iowa, for a short time. In 1939, they moved to Seneca where Cecil was engaged in farming. In 1975, they retired and moved into Ringsted. Cecil died August 27, 1992.

Helen was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted; Armstrong V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.

Helen is survived by one son, Dr. Donald L. Baldwin, Chiropractor, serving aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida and his wife, Dr. Gwendy Peters Baldwin; one grandson, Lt. Michael E. Peters USN (Navy Helicopter pilot) currently serving aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV63) permanently forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan; and special friend, Jerald Petersen of Ringsted.

Preceding Helen in death were her husband; parents; two brothers; and one sister. (MC)
