Knutson Obituary
Kenneth Elias Knutson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Knutson, was born near Dolliver, Iowa on August 17, 1890. From the weakened condition of his heart he passed away in Des Moines, Iowa on June 2, 1938. At his death he was 47 years, 9 months and 16 days old.

He spent his boyhood days on his father’s farm where he also attended the rural public schools. On April 16, 1905 in the Palestine church he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith after having received religious instruction in the parental home, in the Sunday school and under the ministry of Rev. T.C. Thompson.

During his youth he attended a mechanical school in Kansas City, Mo., from which he also graduated. Shortly afterwards he moved back to this childhood community and operated a garage in Dolliver, Iowa.

On March 3, 1917 he was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Anderson of Ceylon, Minn. This union was blessed with two children, namely Gerald and Marjorie.

After having been in the garage business, Mr. Knutson operated a farm for several years in the Dolliver community.

In 1924 the family moved to Des Moines, where they have since resided. In this city Mr. Knutson with his family have been very loyal members of the Central Lutheran church.

For the past few years Mr. Knutson was engaged in construction engineering.

On Sunday, June 5, a service was conducted in the Central Lutheran church, Des Moines at 3:30 p.m. On the following day another funeral service was held in the Palestine church, near Dolliver, at 2 p.m. At this service Rev. T. Hanson of Lakefield, Minn., and likewise the local pastor, Rev. Peder Nordsletten of Wallingford. Special music was furnished by the Misses Clara and Emma Sunde and by Rev. and Mrs. P. Nordsletten. Interment was made in the Palestine cemetery.

Mr. Knutson is survived by his wife, his two children and likewise his aged mother and four brothers, Ole of Dolliver, Barney of Minneapolis, Minn., Silas of Dolliver and William of Joliet, Ill. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 9, 1938)
