Dolliver Man Dies Monday; Rites Set
Dolliver – Alvin Hatling, 53, Dolliver, died early Monday [April 13, 1968] at his home here, following a heart attack.

Alvin Bernard Hatling was born May 8, 1914, in Brown County, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hatling.

He was educated in Comfrey, Minn., and was married April 14, 1946 to Helen Brendstetter at Sioux Falls.

The couple moved to Dolliver, where he was depot agent for 20 years. He was also in a feed store at Dolliver, and worked for Tuloma Gas Products. Mr. Hatling was employed at the McQuay Refrigeration Mfg. Co., Spirit Lake, at the time of his death.

He was a member of the Dolliver Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Vicky, who is attending school at Carroll, Iowa, and Nancy at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hatling, Comfrey, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Andrew Zuccarello of Chicago.

Family services will be at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Hatling Home in Dolliver.

Public services will follow at 2 pm. in the Dolliver Lutheran Church with the Rev. Sanford Sill officiating. Burial will be in the Dolliver Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home at Estherville from 9 a.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. on Wednesday when the casket will be taken to the church at Dolliver. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 15, 1914)
