Obituary J.W. Clark
Jacob Wilson Clark was born in Owen county, Indiana, on May 4th, 1866. Death’s sudden call came to him on Sunday evening, June 30, 1929 at his home northeast of Dolliver.

Mr. Clark came to Albion, Iowa, in 1882. On Christmas day, 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Croskrey. Their married life was spent, 18 years at Tama, then 12 years in Marshalltown, one year at Barnesville, Minn., and in the spring of 1922 they came to a farm near Dolliver.

Of the children born to Mr. and Mrs. Clark, seven are living, while two, Frankie and Hazel died as infants. The five sons and two daughters are: Edna Eastman, Marshalltown, Lawrence, San Benita, Texas; Lee, San Francisco, Calif.; Cecil, Marshalltown; Myrtle Hardecopf, Dolliver; Albert, Dolliver; Leonard, Marshalltown.

Mr. Clark was known among us as a good and respected citizen, an honored member of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges. He was affectionate and indulgent in his home and with his children. A man who, with his faithful companion, learned to know much of the hardship of life and the responsibility and care of a large family.

Perhaps an ancient poem may be quoted as expressive of Mr. Clark’s life and experience:

“When the sun rises I go to work;
When the sun goes down I take my rest;
I dig the well from which I drink;
I farm the soil that yields my food.
I share creation; Kings do no more.”

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Community M.E. church in Dolliver, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. O.P. Mueller. The body was taken to Marshalltown, Iowa, for interment.
