Olai Olson, 61, Dies At Iowa City Hospital
Olai Olson, 61, died Tuesday [December 16, 1958] evening at University Hospitals in Iowa City. A long-time member of this community, he was born July 30, 1897. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ida Olson. Surviving are his two brothers the Rev. Stanley R. Olson of Los Angeles, and Halbert Olson of Gary, Ind.

Services will be held at the Estherville Lutheran Church on Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. T.W. Maakestad will officiate. Friends may call at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from tomorrow afternoon until time of services.

Rites To Be Friday for Olai Olson
Funeral services for Olai Olson, 61, who died Tuesday evening will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church, the Rev. T.W. Maakestad officiating.

Surviving are his two brothers the Rev. Stanley R. Olson of Los Angeles and Halbert Olson of Gary, Ind., who arrived here yesterday to attend services.

Mr. Olson was born July 30, 1897, in Estherville, the son of Andrew and Ida Olson. He attended the Estherville grade schools and high school and was engaged as a carpenter here all his life. A longtime member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, he was also a member of the Moose Lodge and Woodmen of the World.

Mr. Olson’s body will lie in state in the church from noon tomorrow until time of service. The casket will not be opened after services. Burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 18, 1958)
