Carrie Dorthey Borreson, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Borreson, died Saturday [December 26, 1903] morning at 3 o’clock after a lingering illness of heart and lung trouble. She was also taken with the measles about a week ago which proved fatal. The deceased was 17 years 2 months and 20 days old [Calculated dob October 10, 1886]. The funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at Estherville Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T.C. Thompson. The remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery in the southern part of this township. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of their many friends. Miss Carrie Borreson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Borreson, died at the home of her parents, north of this city on Friday, Dec. 25th, after a brief illness. She had been sick with the measles and was almost over them when she took cold and had a relapse and died in a very short time. Deceased was seventeen years of age at the time of her death and always had been a bright and cheerful girl. Friends of the family in this community extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved relatives. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon.
