Henry P. Olson, 84, Dies Today
Henry P. Olson, 84, longtime resident of this area, died at 10:30 this morning at Holy Family Hospital He had suffered a stroke early Wednesday morning and had not regained consciousness.

Mr. Olson was born Jan. 26, 1874 on a farm north of Superior, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Olson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On March 17, 1898 [1897] he was married to Mary Stueland of Estherville. After their marriage, the couple lived on a farm near Superior until 1900 when they moved to Estherville and Mr. Olson worked as a bridge gang foreman with the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific railroad. In 1922 they moved to Chicago living there until 1931 at which time they returned to a farm near Estherville.

In 1945 Mr. Olson retired and had since lived at the Orleans hotel.

He is survived by two daughters Mrs. Harold Reed and Dorothy McDonough both of Estherville and son Martin of Forrest City, Ark. Five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Delia Nordstrom of Hamilen [?], Albert, Canada and one brother J.C. Olson, Bismark, N.D.

His grandchildren are [ ] Reed, Milwaukee, Wis., Robert Reed, Manchester, Charles Reed, Lohrville, Jim Reed, Estherville and Mrs. Charles Armstrong, East Belvue [?], Va.

Mr. Olson was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 6, 1936, two daughters, Emma and Hilda, one son Elmer, who died in World War II, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be announced in tomorrow’s Daily News. Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 23, 1958)

Henry Olson Rites Monday
Funeral services for Henry P. Olson, who died Thursday forenoon at Holy Family Hospital after suffering a stroke early Wednesday morning, will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home, the Rev. John D. Meyer of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery. Friends may call at Sandin-Furhmans from tomorrow until time of the service.
