Funeral services for Oscar Anderson, 65, longtime resident of this area who died Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sioux City, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian Church here, the Rev. Lester Strubhar officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery.Mr. Anderson was born at Graettinger in 1894 [per gravestone November 4, 1893] and lived his entire life in this area until last fall when he and his wife moved to Sioux City.
He was an employee of the City of Estherville for 20 years and was a veteran of World War I, having served in France.
Survivors are his wife, Nellie [Van Valkenburg] ; two daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Rose Marie) Rose of Sioux City and Mrs. Dan (Marilyn) Moyer of Terril; three sons, Wayne of Rice Lake, Wisc., Ronald serving with the Navy and Richard of Sioux City.
Also surviving are two sisters at Graettinger.
Sternborg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and friends may call there from this afternoon until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 28, 1959)
