Ole Johnson of Swan Lake township died Monday [October 2, 1893] of rheumatic trouble. The deceased was over sixty years old and leaves a wife and quite a large family of children. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1893)

Ole Johnson, who has been ill for many weeks, died at his home last Tuesday [October 3, 1893]. He leaves a wife and five small children and numerous friends to mourn his death. He was one of the early settlers here. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, October 12, 1893)
