Estherville – Services for Harold Alan Halverson, 78, of Estherville will be Tuesday, July 14 at the Henry-Olson-Furhman Funeral Home in Estherville with Pastor Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment with be in the Estherville Lutheran [Norwegian] Cemetery. He died Saturday, July 11 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls. Friends may call from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home.

He was born on March 14, 1914 in Estherville, the son of Hans and Mary (Paulson) Halverson. He was educated in the Estherville school system and never married. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII seeing combat in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. After the war he worked for John Morrell and Co. until 1965. He was confirmed at the Estherville Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his brother Palmer Halverson and wife, Nada of Estherville, several nieces and nephews and one cousin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, two nephews and one niece. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 13, 1992)
