Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Brunsvold’s little girl had the misfortune of getting her hand between the hay rope and the pulley while they were pulling up hay in the barn and smashed her little hand very bad, but we hope for her speedy recovery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 22, 1909)

The little girl [Fern Esther] of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Brunsvold died at the City Hospital of lock jaw Saturday [September 25, 1909] evening, caused from her getting her hand badly lacerated in a pulley used on a hay fork at the Brunsvold farm northeast of town. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, September 29, 1909)

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Brunsvold had the misfortune of loosing their little girl from the misfortune which was mentioned last week. She died Saturday evening at the city hospital at Estherville and the funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Norwegian Lutheran church and the little body laid to rest in the Norwegian cemetery. The parents have the sympathy of their many friends in their hour of sorrow. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 29, 1909)
