Milford – Funeral services for Marvel G. Sorenson, 82, of Milford were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, march 15 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with the Rev. Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Interment was held at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery. She died on Thurs., March 13 at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford.

Visitation was held Saturday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born on April 18, 1914 in Dickinson, N.D. the daughter of Henry A. and Mary (Amundson) Sorenson. She attended school in Belfield, N.D. and graduated from high school there. She then attended Concordia College in Moorehead, Minn. She worked for her father in his john Deer Implement Dealership in the parts department in Belfield, N.D. for a number of years. In 1947, she moved to Minneapolis and set up the parts department in the John Deer Distribution Center there. She continued to work there until her retirement. She lived in Minneapolis until moving to the Milford Nursing Center five years ago.

She was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ed (Dorothy) Peters of Estherville; nephews, William Richter of Minneapolis, Minn.; Larry Richter of Bismarck, N.D.; Henry Sorenson of Corning; Michael Sorenson of West Des Moines; Gary Sorenson of Schaumberg, Ill.; Mark Sorenson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; nieces Rosemarie Croner of Estherville; Dr. Margaret Sorenson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Christine Rawlings of Estherville; June Neal of Plano, Texas; Karen DeMuth of Mt. Pleasant; and Annette Dalen of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 17, 1997)
