Rites of Mrs. Anfin Shaw Tomorrow
Funeral services for Mrs. Anfin (Anna) Shaw, 85, who died Sunday [January 31, 1965] at the Good Samaritan Home, are to be held Tuesday afternoon at Estherville Lutheran Church.

A family service at 1:30 p.m. at the church will precede the 2 p.m. public service, the Rev. Roy M. Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery north of Estherville.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home until Tuesday noon at which time the body will be taken to the church. The casket will not be opened after the service. The family of Mrs. Shaw has established a memorial.

Mrs. Shaw died Sunday at 8:15 at Good Samaritan Home where she had lived for the past four years, her death attributed to infirmities of advanced age. She has been in failing health for about a year.

The former Anna Sunde was born March 2, 1879, at Sunde, Sunnhordland, Norway, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tollef Sunde. She came with her parents at an early age to this country. The family settled on a farm near Dolliver and she received her education in the Emmet County schools.

She was married to Anfin Shaw Jan. 2, 1902, at the Sunde Valley school, rural Estherville. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw made their home in Estherville all their married life. Mr. Shaw, a carpenter, died in 1948.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by a daughter, Luella Shaw of Minneapolis, a son, Elmer of Fort Dodge, two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Caroline Olson of Glendale, Calif., and two brothers, Nels Sunde of Estherville and the Rev. Lars Sunde, who lives in California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three infant children, her parents, two sisters and two brothers. One of the sisters, Mrs. Carl Shaw, died three weeks ago. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 1, 1965)
