Mrs. Laura Wittern Dies; Funeral Friday
Mrs. Laura Wittern [Ida Laura Unger] died early yesterday at her home at 314 4th avenue north just three days after her 64th birthday. She was honored at a birthday party on Saturday by a group of friends. Death came after a lingering illness from pernicious anemia.

Mrs. Wittern was born Nov. 16, 1882, in the Jackson, Minn., vicinity and lived there in her childhood. She was married about 45 years ago to Charles Wittern. All of her adult life was spent in Estherville. Mrs. Wittern was an active member in the Free Methodist church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ordelle Wittern of Algona and Harold Wittern of Estherville; and one sister and two brothers whose names were not available.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Sternborg funeral home and at 2:30 in the Free Methodist church. Rev. John Cross will officiate at the rites, assisted by Rev. E.E. Taylor, former pastor in the Free Methodist church here. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 20, 1946)
