Henry L. [Louis] Suckow Dies at Age of 64
Henry Louie [Louis] Suckow, 64, resident of Estherville for the past 10 years, died yesterday at 10:05 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital. Death was attributed to a lingering illness. Mr. Suckow had been hospitalized since Dec. 17.

The son of Henry and Sophia Suckow, he was born Jan. 1, 1898 in Chicago, Ill., and moved with his parents and family to Martin County, Minn., in 1899. The family farmed in that area and the children attended the Martin County schools. Later Henry Suckow and his brother, Walter, farmed in Martin County as partners until 1951 when they retired and moved to Estherville. Walter died suddenly in July, 1959.

Baptized and confirmed at an early age in the Lutheran faith, Mr. Suckow had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since moving to Estherville.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. William Rost of Estherville; a brother, William of Rockford, Mich.; six nieces and five nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother and a sister, Ida.

Funeral services for Mr. Suckow are to be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. Walter Discher officiating. Interment is to be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral home from Wednesday afternoon until 11 a.m. Thursday. The body will lie in state at the church from noon until time of services. The casket will not be opened following the service. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 23, 1962)
