Dan Scott Dies at 69 After Attack
Dan Henry Scott, 69, of Estherville, died suddenly at 2:05 p.m. yesterday at his home. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Scott was born Nov. 14, 1895, in Libanon [Lebanon], Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.H. Scott. As a boy he moved with his family to Illinois where he received his education.

In 1906 the family moved to Monona County in Iowa and he moved with them to Estherville, where he was employed by the Rock Island Railroad, in 1916.

He was married to Marie Ellis in Duluth, Minn., Feb. 5, 1928.

In 1923 he moved to Waukegan, Ill., where he worked for the Northwestern Railroad until his retirement in 1960, at which time he returned to Estherville.

Mr. Scott was a member of the Christian Church, the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America and the Veterans of W.W. I Barracks.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, of Estherville; four brothers, Charles of Ingelside, Ill., Raymond of Armstrong, Dewey of Downer’s Grove, Ill., and Joe of Lansing, Ill.; three sister, Mrs. Charles Murrie of Deerfield, Ill., Mrs. Ralph Wickersham of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Lawrence Jensen of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Family services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Church, followed by public services at 2 p.m., Rev. Howard Wakelin officiating.

Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery following the services.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today until 11 a.m. Thursday, when the body will be taken to the church to lay in state until the time of service.

The casket will not be opened after the services.

Military graveside rites will be performed by the Veterans of W.W. I, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1965)
