Anna Matilda Patterson of Spencer Dies
Born in 1891 on Farm Near Estherville
Anna Matilda Patterson, who died at Spencer Tuesday [February 23, 1943] morning, the youngest daughter of Peter and Matilda Gipson, was born April 27, 1891, on the Wagoner homestead, five miles northeast of Estherville in Ellsworth township.

She was the only daughter among four children, all of whom are now dead with the exception of albert Gipson. His home is in Primghar but at the present time he is in California.

Married In 1912
She was united in marriage to Eugene Samuel Patterson on Nov. 20, 1912 at Estherville. They had no children.

For several years Mr. and Mrs. Patterson lived in Estherville, later moving to a farm in Clay county where they were engaged in farming for 27 years. In the spring of 1911 they left the farm and purchased a home just outside of Spencer where Mrs. Patterson died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Seemed Improved
Mrs. Patterson had been in poor health for the last year but preceding her death she had seemed to be much improved and her sudden death came as a shock to her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Mahlum and Anderson chapel, conducted by Dr. Burgess of Spencer. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 25, 1943)
