Mary [Clarquist] Johnson, wife of John Johnson, who lives on the West Side, died Friday, Oct. 27, 1899, after a lingering illness of many months with consumption. The funeral was held at the house Sunday afternoon and the burial was made in the Oak Hill cemetery. The services were in charge of the G.A.R., of which Mr. Johnson is a comrade, and the W.R.C., Rev. Wilcox officiating. Mrs. Johnson was fifty-four years old at the time of her death. She was a native of Sweden and was born in that country on Oct. 3rd, 1845. In 1865 she came to America and in 1868 was married to the husband whom she now leaves to mourn her loss. She was a mother of two sons and four daughters, all whom survive her.
