Estherville – Services for Mrs. Ruby Mae Nichols, 91, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. Wedesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Eastern Star Rites will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. Friends may call after noon on Tuesday at the Henry & Olson Funeral Home in Estherville.

She died Saturday, July 14, 1984 at Good Samaritan in Estherville.

Nichols was born Jan. 22, 1893 in Martin County, Minn., the daughter of James and Mary (Wade) Weir. She received her education in Martin County and married Irwin Nichols in 1941 in Estherville. She lived in Estherville most of her life and was deputy recorder for Emmet County for a number of years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Lenore) Jansen, Spirit Lake; two stepsons, Jack Nichols, Iberia, Mo. and Robert Nichols, Duncanville, Texas; four granddaughters, Carla Hatten, Omaha, Neb., Kay Young, Oak Harbor, Wash., Peggy Miller, Bozeman, Mont., and Vickie Sliakerveer, Durham, N.C.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 16, 1984)
