Mrs. Marie Nerness Dies; Rites Friday
Mrs. Marie Nerness, 77, Estherville died at 1:30 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital. She had been living with her sister, Mrs. Christina Sorum since 1946.

She was born in Lee, Ill., October 24, 1876. In 1903 she and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Christopher, moved to Gruver. She married John Richards in 1905 and in 1911 they moved to Spokane, Wash. Mr. Richards died in Spokane in November, 1911. She married Z. Nerness, Nov. 22, 1922. He died March 4, 1935. After the death of her husband, she returned to Lee, Ill., and came to Estherville to live with her sister in 1946.

Mrs. Nerness was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Surviving her is her sister, Mrs. Sorum. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Sternborg funeral home. The Rev. C.B. Gunderson of Wallingford will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 22, 1954)
