Mrs. Nau Dies at 85 at Hospital
Mrs. K.K. Nau, 85, long-time resident of Estherville, died at 4:30 a.m. today at Holy Family Hospital from the infirmities of advanced age. She had been in failing health the past few months.Evaline Lein Nau was born Oct. 17, 1879 in Story County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lein. She received her early education in the Story County schools and moved with her parents as a child to Estherville.
For a short time before her marriage she was employed in a ladies’ apparel shop in Des Moines.
She was married Aug. 10, 1904, to Knut K. Nau at Estherville.
Mrs. Nau was a long-time member of the Estherville Woman’s club and during World War I was active in Red Cross work. For 45 years she served on the Emmet County Welfare Committee.
A member of Estherville Lutheran church, she was confirmed Oct. 28, 1894. She taught Sunday school for many years and was active in the Ladies Aid.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) McCombs of Sac City; a son, Omer K. Nau of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary L. Olson of Minneapolis and Mrs. Gertrude Combs of Milwaukee, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and one brother.
Family services will be held at 1:30 Saturday in the chapel of Estherville Lutheran Church. Public services will follow at 2 p.m. Rev. Christian Notsund will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery.
Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Friday until noon on Saturday when the casket will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of the funeral. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 29, 1965)
