Mrs. Julius Naas [Nass] Dies at Age of 78
Mrs. Julius (Mathilda) Naas, 78, a resident of the Estherville area for the past 30 years, died at 1 a.m. today at the Good Samaritan Home. Mrs. Naas had been in poor health since suffering a stroke a week ago and had lived at the home since suffering an earlier stroke in 1959.

She was born Sept. 15, 1883 at Woligen in the Russian Ukraine and received her education there. On Feb. 16, 1900 she was married to Julius Naas at Woligen and the couple and one son came to the United States in 1907, settling at Whittemore.

In 1930 they moved to a farm near Estherville and in 1938 retired and moved to town. Her husband died in 1959. Mrs. Naas was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wilie (Nathalia) Scheler, Ringsted; and Mrs. Melvin (Pauline) Triplett, Comfrey, Minn.; and five sons, Walter and Samuel, Estherville; Gottlieb, Kansas City, Kan.; Darrell, Mentor, Minn.; and William of Sherburn.

Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Rosella, who died in 1933 at the age of 21.

Family services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with public services at 2 p.m., the Rev. Walter Discher officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at Sternbrog Reese Funeral Home from Sunday morning until 10 a.m. Monday when the body will be taken to the church. The casket will be not be open following services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 20, 1961)
