Emil Leo Dies After Illness of Two Weeks
Funeral Services Will Be Held Monday Afternoon
Emil Leo, 74, of Estherville, died at 6:30 a.m. today at his home at 1303 N. 6th St. Death was attributed to hardening of the arteries and followed a light stroke. Mr. Leo had been confined to his bed since two weeks ago Monday night.

Emil Leo was born in Minnesota near Albert Lea. He lived on the Leo homestead with his parents, sisters and brothers from the time he was eight years old until he grew to young manhood.

Lived at Huntington
The Leo homestead farm is now operated by Gus Schaper. After Mr. Leo left the farm he was in the lumber and elevator business in Huntington.

He was united in marriage to Marie West, who died in December, 1920. Two children, a boy and a girl, born to Mr. and Mrs. Leo died in infancy. The boy died when only two days old and the girl, Lavone [Lavahn Marie], died at the age of five weeks. Nineteen years later, Mr. Leo was united in marriage June 2 to Anna West, a sister of Marie West.

Mr. Leo was a member of the German Lutheran church.

Has Several Survivors
He is survived by his widow, a daughter, the former Ivadell Leo, who is now married to Lawrence Reinesch of Estherville, one brother, Carl Leo, of Hadley, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Joy Horswell of Estherville and Mrs. Frances Orschel of Des Moines, two grandchildren, Richard and Ann Marie Reinesch, and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Leo home and at 2 p.m. from the German Lutheran church with the Rev. K.A. Horn officiating. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 31, 1943)
