Spirit Lake, 82, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Estherville, will be Wednesday, may 16th at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Internment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Mr. Lauritsen died Sunday, May 13, 1990 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.George Christopher Lauritsen was born December 29, 1907 to Lars and Christine (Hansen) Lauritsen in Dedham, Carroll County, Iowa. He was educated in the Carroll County schools. On February 16, 1947 he married Pauline Miller in Estherville. George came to Emmet County in 1929 where he was employed by Clark Plumbing and Lyman Oil Company until he started farming in 1947. In March of 1971 he retired and moved to Spirit Lake. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville and the Disabled Veterans of America. Mr. Lauritsen was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife Pauline of Spirit Lake; two sons: Steve and Gary Lauritsen, both of rural Estherville; two brothers: Arthur Lauritsen of Spirit Lake and Alfred Lauritsen of Estherville; a sister, Mrs. Lenore Corwin of Estherville; and four grandchildren: Jason, Julie, Brian and Sarah Lauritsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 14, 1990)
