Estherville – Services for Donald Lair, 57, who died Wednesday, October 5, 1988 at his rural Estherville home, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Robert Kunz officiating. Burial will be in Estherville’s Oak Hill Cemetery with military services by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. Family and friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville on Friday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.Donald Leslie Lair was born on February 1, 1931 at Terril, Iowa to Russel R. and Edith (Wise) Lair. He graduated from Estherville High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. On August 2, 1953 he married Nona Jean Shannon at the Estherville Christian Church. Mr. Lair lived his entire life in Estherville. He farmed, worked at B & B Implement, was a bus driver for the Estherville Public Schools and was the senior partner in Don Lair & Sons. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Nona of rural Estherville; his mother, Mrs. Edith lair of Estherville; four sons: Mark Lair and his wife Tammy of Estherville, Russel Lair and his wife Tammy of Spirit Lake; Larry Lair and his wife Pam of Wallingford and Scott Lair and his wife Lisa of Mankato, Minn.; two daughters: Joy Iverson and her husband Gene of Seattle, Wash. and Judy Lair of Estherville; a brother, Leroy “Larry” Lair of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Opal Lair and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russel; a brother, Raymond and an infant grandson, Steven. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 6, 1988)
