Retired R.I. Conductor Dies at 75
Harry Bense Ladassor, 75, longtime Rock Island conductor, of Estherville, died late Saturday [April 1, 1961] afternoon at Holy Family Hospital of a stroke. He had been hospitalized since March 27. Family services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral chapel, the Rev. Lester Strubhar officiating, followed by final rites at 1:30 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will be in Oakhill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home from today until time of services.

Mr. Ladassor was born Feb. 19, 1886, in Irvin, Ill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ladassor. He was educated in Illinois schools. On Feb. 24, 1914, he was married to Sevenia Snover in Kanaranzi, Minn. He began railroading at the age of 19 years, when he took a job as brakeman on the Litchfield and Madison line. He moved to Estherville ten years later and was a conductor with the Rock Island Railroad until his retirement in December of 1953.

Mr. Ladassor was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Alba of Dows, a grandson, three brothers, Warren of Illinois, Adrian and Bernard of California, and a sister, Mrs. Harry (Theresa) Wilcox of California. His parents, three brothers and six sisters preceded him in death. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 3, 1961)
