Longtime City Resident Dies At Hospital
Mrs. Ella B. Jones died at 7:25 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital after a lingering illness. She had been a resident of Estherville for 41 years.Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sandin funeral home and at 2 at the Methodist church, the Rev. John DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.
Ella B. Story, daughter of James and Aurelia Story, was born at Boyden, Iowa, and as a child moved with her family to Hull where she was educated in the Hull schools.
She taught school as a young woman in the rural schools of Lyon and Sioux counties and in the town schools at Boyden.
On April 26, 1902, she was married to Fred M. Jones at Boyden and they moved to Estherville 41 years ago.
Mrs. Jones was a life-long member of the Methodist church, and was active in the work of her church, White Shrine, Past Matrons, Woman’s club and the Priscilla Sunday school class.
Surviving are a brother, Fred Story of Estherville, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Luce of Miller, S.D., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 18, 1952)
Rites Sunday for Mrs. Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Ella B. Jones who died Thursday evening, will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sandin funeral home and 2 p.m. at the Methodist church, the Rev. John E. DeLong officiating. The casket will remain closed at the service but friends may call at the funeral home this evening or tomorrow morning. Pall bearers will be W.R. Sidles, V.H.
