Paul Iseminger, 10, Taken to Rochester
An Estherville boy, Paul Iseminger, 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Iseminger, was in critical condition in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., this morning with severe burns received in a grass fire late Thursday afternoon.

Physicians in Rochester reported that third degree burns cover over 90 per cent of his body, according to a member of the Iseminger family.

The youth received the injuries in a fire in a vacant lot owned by the Trinity Lutheran Church and bordered by North Seventh Street and 20th Ave. North. According to the city police department, Iseminger was asleep in side a hut that had wooden framework covered with straw and grass, when a lighted candle in the hut ignited the grass.

The hut was one of two in the lot that were built and used by children in the neighborhood.

The blaze spread from the building to the surrounding grass field, but volunteer firemen had the fire under control before it could spread very far.

The fire was reported by Mrs. George Stenge of 1909 N. Seventh St., police said. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 18, 1965)
