Huntington – Services for Mabel Hyer, 89, of Huntington will be held Tuesday, December 20, 1994 at 11 a.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. She died Friday, December 16 at Holy Family Hospital.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born April 28, 1905 in Kenmare, N.D. the daughter of Frank and Estella (Stanton) Andrews. She received her education in the country schools near Kenmare. She married Paul Hyer on July 17, 1927 in Kenmare. Following their marriage, the couple moved to a farm near Huntington. They moved into Huntington in 1937 and she moved to Estherville in 1989. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in September of 1994. She was a member of the Huntington Methodist Church and the Triple E Club.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Zelda Hyer of Ames and Sandra Hyer of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edith Grenvik of Yreka, Cal.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966, three sons, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 19, 1994)
