Estherville – Services for Roy Raymond Elwood, 75, Gruver, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Gruver Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Neal Armstrong officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. He died Friday, July 10th in Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville was in charge of services.

Mr. Elwood was born Nov. 23, 1905 in Emmetsburg, the son of Casius and Almeda [Fish] Elwood; he received his education in the Emmetsburg schools. On Feb. 17, 1932 he was married to Bertha Reineman at Spirit Lake. They farmed in the Spirit Lake and Jackson area for several years after which he worked on the Rock Island Railroad as a machinist and then farmed in the Estherville area until his retirement in 1970 when they moved to Gruver.

He is survived by his wife Bertha of Gruver; one brother, George Elwood, Braceville, Ill.; two nieces; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mae Elwood, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 13, 1981)
