Rites Held Today for Mrs. Bennett
Private funeral services were held this afternoon for Mrs. L.J. Bennett at her home. The Rev. Harrison G. Dawes officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Bennett died Friday [July 30, 1954] evening at Holy Family Hospital. She had been ill several months.

She was born July 31, 1881 in Streator, Ill. Her family moved to Webster county in 1889 and came to Emmet county in 1902. She married Leon Julian Bennet Oct. 13, 1906 and had resided in Estherville since that time. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1936. He was a former president of the Iowa Trust and Savings Bank and vice president of the Northern Lumber company.

She is survived by her son, Parker J. Bennett, Fort Dodge, a daughter, Mrs. Marvin Stark, Louisville, Ky.; a grandson, Barry Bennett; a granddaughter, Deborah Stark; a brother, Frank Davis, Harrisburg, S.D., and two sisters, Mrs. S.E. Bemis, Spirit Lake and Mrs. Cora Shadle, Newton.

Members of the family here for the funeral include Mrs. Cora Shadle, Mrs. Hal Weris and three sons, Hal Jr., Frank and Bill, all of Newton; Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Bemis, Spirit Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Bemis, Mallard; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stark and Debbie, Louisville, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Parker Bennett and Barry, Fort Dodge and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davis, Harrisburg, S.D.
