Graettinger – Funeral services for Ferman [Max] Watson, 83, of Graettinger will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger with the Rev. Vicki Fisher officiating. Interment will be held at High Lake Township Cemetery in rural Wallingford. He died on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. this evening at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Graettinger.

Ferman was born on June 7, 1920 near Ayrshire, the son of Sam and Gertrude (Fread) Watson. Ferman attended Hoprig School through the eighth grade.

On Aug. 18, 1940, Ferman was united in marriage to Carolyn Johnson. They lived with Johnnie and Thelma Johnson for one year then northwest of Estherville for one year, farmed for one year eight miles east of Graettinger and 54 years at the farm 9 miles east and 1 ½ miles south of Graettinger. He was a farmer all his life. He also loved to fish, hunt and trap.

He is survived by his four daughters, Dietta Wilson of Grand Forks, N.D.; Janice Bahr and her husband, Robert and their two children Elaine and Wendell Bahr of Alden; Linda Christensen, and her husband, Ron and their three girls, Sonja Hughes of Ringsted, Serena Rustad of Armstrong and Shari Schurg of Ruthven; Norma Jackson and her husband, Jim, their two children, Jodie Jarrett of Coon Rapids, Minn. and Jerry Jackson of Graettinger; five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Callahan, Cody Jackson, Dakota Callahan, Jorgan Rustad and Jacelyn Rustad.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, his parents, Sam and Gertrude Watson, two sisters, Florence Jacobson and Patricia Peterson, and two grandsons, Dale and Dean Jackson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 9, 2004)
