Estherville – Mrs. Carrie Riggs, 89, Estherville, died Sunday [October 24, 1976] at Holy Family Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Estherville Lutheran Church with burial at the High Lake Cemetery, Wallingford.

The Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements where friends may call until noon Wednesday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Mrs. Riggs was born July 24, 1887 in Palo Alto County to Ole and Carrie Strand Johnson. She was educated to the sixth grade and was married to Charlie Strom, and later to Ed Riggs. Mrs. Riggs lived in LeGrand before moving to an Emmet County farm. She later moved to Estherville and lived most of her life in the Estherville and Wallingford areas. She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Johnnie Johnson, Wallingford; one sister, Mrs. Selma Olson, Lakeside Lutheran Home, Emmetsburg; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelma Johnson, Wallingford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, two husband, one son, one daughter and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 26, 1976)
