Old Mr. Peterson [Peder Nelson Brujeld], of Emmet county, died last Thursday [April 6, 1882], his wife [Gjertrud Olsdtr Torsnes] having preceded him about one week [April 2, 1882]. And now comes the sad intelligence that William [Bottolf], a son of the late Mr. Peterson, fell from his horse, while in a state of intoxication, and was drowned in a small pool of water. This occurred within a few hours of the death of his father. (Emmetsburg Palo Alto Pilot, Emmetsburg, IA, April 14, 1882)
A mother, father and son, by name of Peterson, of High Lake, Emmet county, all died within a week. The mother and father were of advanced years, and died of old age rather than from disease. The son came to Emmetsburg to get medical aid for his father and returning on a very dark night fell or got thrown from his horse in a slue and was drowned, when the water was not more than a foot deep.
