Estherville – Funeral services for George Michael Hanson, 33, of Savannah, Georgia, Lake Jackson, Texas, and Estherville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastor Joel Jorgenson officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Posts 91, both of Estherville. He died on Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 as a result of an automobile accident in Pooler, Ga.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with a vigil service at 7 p.m. presided by Father Jerry Cosgrove.

George was born on Jan. 5 [4], 1970 in Estherville, the son of Harold and Kathleen (Clymer) Hanson. He received his education in the Des Moines, Estherville and Lake Jackson, Texas schools.

After completing his education George served in the United States Navy for six years.

In 1988, he was united in marriage to Kathy Luxton in Lake Jackson. George was employed as a computer programmer at ARI in Dallas, Texas. Later he moved to New Ulm, Minn. where he worked with his brother Chuck for a time.

Then he was employed at SST in Emmetsburg. He then moved to Georgia where he was employed in construction with his brother Jeff and currently was employed with Spero’s in Savannah. He loved fishing and video games for hobbies.

George was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish George’s memory are his son, Matthew Ryan Hanson of McKinney, Texas; father, Harold Hanson of Lake Jackson; mother, Kathy McFadden and her husband, John of Estherville; brothers, Jeffrey Clymer, wife Missy, and their children, Brian and Nicole; Charles Hanson, wife, Kimberly, and their children, Brandon and Jacob; Richard Hanson, wife, Kristi, and their daughter, Kaitlyn; grandparents, Richard and Hulda Hanson; Jean and Hermon Blom; also special aunts, uncles, cousins, step-brother; step-sisters; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding George in death were his grandfather, George Clymer and grandmother Mary Hanson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 24, 2003)
