Mrs. Baste Jacobson passed away at Cherokee Thursday [February 7, 1929] evening. The remains were brought to Graettinger Saturday night. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 13, 1929)
Early Resident Dies; Is Long Ill
Funeral services for Mrs. Gudve [Knutson] Jacobson, wife of Baste Jacobson who passed away Thursday at the hospital in Cherokee, were held Tuesday afternoon. A short prayer service was held from the home in High Lake township at noon and at one o’clock from the Lutheran church at Graettinger. Burial was made in the High Lake cemetery. A.J. Anderson, I.S. Refsell, O.O. Refsell, Ole Johnson, Albert Oddson and Lewis Isaakson were the pall bearers.
Mrs. Jacobson was born Oct. 4, 1876 in Norway, and was 52 years old at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband and eight children. The family is one of that group of pioneers who braved the hardships of the unbroken prairies of northwest Iowa. A devoted home woman and kindly neighbor, Mrs. Jacobson will be mourned by a wide circle of friends. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 13, 1929)
