Woman Dies at Age 75
Graettinger – Funeral services will be held here at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the South Bethel Lutheran Church for Mrs. Aletta Jacobson, 75, who died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday [March 15, 1964] at the Hofstader Nursing Home in Estherville. Death was attributed to a lingering illness.

She was born Sept. 29, 1888, at Masfjordan, Norway, the daughter of Bendix and Bertha Sorenson. She received her education in Norway schools and married Baste Jacobson in Norway on Jan. 6, 1931.

The couple came to the United States after their marriage and moved to Palo Alto County, March 21, 1931. They farmed northeast of Graettinger until 1938 when they moved to the Ingham Lake area.

Mr. Jacobson died in 1947 and Mrs. Jacobson remained on the farm until 1957 when she moved to Graettinger.

Survivors include seven step children, Lewis of Colve Junction, Ore.; Carl, Compton, Calif.; Blanchard, Graettinger; Mrs. Guida Horswell, Lamita, Calif.; Mrs. Oscar (Myrtle) Lein, Watson, Minn.; Mrs. George (Mildred) Miller, Oxnard, Calif.; and Mrs. C.A. (Olga) Jove, Torrence, Calif.

The Rev. O.J. Retiz will officiate at the service at South Bethel Lutheran Church with Fuhrman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Graettinger after 3 p.m. tomorrow until time of services.

Mrs. Jacobson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and a step daughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 16, 1964)
