Estherville – Services for Alma Young, 76, of Estherville, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Jack Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Wallingford Cemetery. She died Sunday, Feb. 11, 1996 at Rosewood Manor Care Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born Oct. 21, 1919 in Dolliver, the daughter of Martin and Mary (Anderson) Danielson. She attended school in Armstrong where she graduated from high school in 1938. She then went to Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. She taught in country school north of Armstrong, then in Dolliver and Wallingford before she married Stan Young, May 24, 1942 in Armstrong. After WWII the couple lived in Wallingford a number of years before moving to Estherville in the early 1960’s. She worked in the insurance office with her husband until they sold the business in 1980. She has been a resident at Rosewood for several years. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday School a number of years.

Survivors incude her brother, Melvin Danielson and wife, Edna of Armstrong, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 13, 1992; a son, Glenn; her parents, two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 14, 1996)
