John Brinkman [Brinkmann] Dies at 77; Ill Many Months
Funeral Service Will Be Held Here Thursday
John H. Brinkmann, 77, died at his home southwest of Estherville last night at 10:30 after a year’s illness. Several times he had been confined to Estherville hospitals for medical care.

John H. Brinkman was born at Sugar Creek, Clinton, Ia., Feb. 26, 1867, and was united in marriage Oct. 28, 1896, at Early, Ia., to Regina Engler.

The Brinkman family came to Emmet county Oct. 1, 1910, and lived at Wallingford until the present home was built March 1, 1911.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Joseph and Alvin, and seven grandchildren, all of Estherville. One son, Verner, died in infancy, Feb. 7, 1898. Mr. Brinkman had 13 sisters and brothers of whom four sisters and two brothers survive.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 21, 1944)

John H. Brinkman, 77, well known Emmet county farmer passed to his reward at 10:30 p.m. Monday after a long illness. Death came at his farm southwest of Estherville which had been his home since 1911, a year after coming to Emmet county.

Born Feb. 26, 1867 at Sugar Creek, Clinton, Iowa, Mr. Brinkman was one of 14 children. He was married Oct. 28, 1896 at Early to Miss Regina Engler. Three sons were born to them, Joseph and Alvin, of Estherville and Verner who died in infancy. Surviving are the widow, two sons, seven grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Partrick’s Catholic church. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 23, 1944)
