Everett Osher, 49, Wallingford, Dies; Rites Held
Wallingford – Funeral services were to be held today at 2 p.m. for Everett Jerome Osher, 49, who died Jan. 2 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, at the Wallingford Lutheran Church with Rev. John Pannkuk officiating.

He was born July 13, 1920, to Lewis and Emma Osher in Wallingford. He was educated in the Estherville schools and attended Estherville Junior College.

On July 24, 1949, he was married to Carol Jones at Gruver. The couple made their home in Wallingford. He was a lifelong resident of Emmet County.

For the past 14 years he was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture having served as grain storage specialist for Northwest Iowa, warehouse examiner for the Consumer and Marketing Service, and for the past six months he had served with the Consumer Food Programs in Mankato, Minn.

He was a lifelong member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School and had served as superintendent of the Sunday School. He was active in the American Legion, having served as commander of his local post, as Emmet County commander and also as Eighth District adjutant. He was a boy scout committeeman for Presbyterian Troop No. 24 in Estherville and was senior advisor for the Order of the Arrow.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Christopher, 18, and Thomas, 16, both at home; and one brother, Bernard Osher, Wallingford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Military services by Norris Kasa Post No. 567 were to be concluded at the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were to be Amos Egeland, Lester Larsen, Trygve Larsen, Curt Larson, Harvey Lundy and Carl F. Hansen. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 5, 1970)
