Wallingford – Services for Mrs. Esther Lucille (Sally) Nelson, 68, Knoxville, Tenn. formerly of Wallingford, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Wallingford Lutheran Church with Pastors Virgil Anderson and Norbert Jollivette officiating. Interment will be in Wallingford Cemetery.

Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the church. Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nelson was born Feb. 25, 1913 at Faribault, Minn., the daughter of Hans and Bertha Gunderson. She received her education in the Wallingford School, graduated from St. Olaf’s college in Northfield, Minn. In 1942 she was married to Thomas E. Nelson at Wallingford. She taught music at DeSmet, So. Dak.

She was a choir director and organist in the Wallingford Lutheran church where she was a former member. She was a retired piano and organ teacher. She has lived at Knoxville since 1957 after the death of her husband.

She is survived by one son, Rev. Thomas E. Nelson Jr., Raleigh, No. Car., one daughter, Susie Nelson, Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Hazel Ranney, Knoxville and Audrey Gunderson, Kent, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 18, 1981)
