Obituary of Mrs. Minnie C. Johnson
Mrs. Minnie C. Johnson maiden name Skattebo, was born the 26th day of April, 1890, on a farm near Wallingford. Here she has lived, spent her child and girlhood, was baptized by H. Engh and was confirmed by Rev. S. Strand. December 9, 1919, she was joined in holy wedlock to Paul Johnson. This marriage was blessed with one child. During the last month Mrs. Johnson has been ailing and gradually withered away. Last Saturday the doctor found that an operation was the only thing that probably would save her life. She seemingly stood the operation, but her weakened condition made all the efforts of physician, nurses and dear ones of no avail. She passed away Wednesday morning the 20th of June at 7:30 a.m. Mrs. Johnson was at her death 33 years, 1 month and twenty-five days old. Those to mourn the loss of a dear wife and mother, daughter and sister are: husband, Paul A. Johnson; daughter, Alice Marie; parents, Mr. and Mrs. K.K. Skattebo; sisters, Charlottte Graff and Gusta Skattebo; brothers, Clarence, Lloyd, Arthur and Francis Skattebo. One brother, Oscar Leonard and one sister, Emma Clemmensen, passed to the beyond before her.

Funeral services held at the home and church Friday, June 22nd. Funeral in charge of Charles Anderson and funeral services conducted by T. Hanson. Pallbearers were Albert Wolden, Chester Anderson, J.A. Nelson, Selmer Dybdahl, Elmer Osher and Martin Natterstad. The casket was laden with beautiful wreaths and bouquets. A host of friends, relatives and neighbors met to pay the last tribute to Mrs. Johnson. The choir sang several selections of beautiful and appropriate sons both at the house and the church. Mrs. Johnson was a young woman, loved and respected both by her own and any one whom she came in contact with. From the time she got sick she seemed resigned to the thought of leaving this world for to enter into the perfect life where God and the Saviour awaits all those who believe in Him. We hope and pray that she is now singing in the Heavenly choir praises to him, who bought her with his atoning blood. May the good lord strengthen and give courage to the bereaved, both the husband, child, parents, sisters and brothers and on the last day join them all in the glorious homecoming. We treasure the memory of Mrs. Johnson. Peace be with her forevermore. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 27, 1923)
