Mrs. Brown, 82, Succumbs to Pneumonia
Mrs. Margaret Brown, 82, of Gruver died at 4:40 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital of double pneumonia. She had been hospitalized since Jan. 27.
Mrs. Brown was born March 30, 1870, in Clinton county. On July 14, 1888, she married James L. Brown in Clarion and the couple farmed for a time near Eagle Grove. Her maiden name was Margaret Larson.
The couple moved to Emmet county in 1879, where they farmed until about 1924, when they moved into Gruver.
Mr. Brown, who had been a stock buyer as well as a farmer, died in Gruver in April, 1928. In 1936, Mrs. Brown returned to a home on their Gruver farm where she has lived since with the exception of a short time last fall when she went to live with a daughter in Brodhead, Wis.
Surviving her death are two daughters, Mrs. Swen (Anna) Berg of Red Lodge, Mont., and Mrs. Lewis (Tilda) Berg of Brodhead, Wis.; five sons, Clarence of Janesville, Wis., Lloyd of Peco, Calif., Joseph, Milford and Vernon, all of Estherville; and a sister, Mrs. Martha Hanson of Estherville.
Preceding her in death are her husband and a son, Elmer, of Washington, D.C., who died in January, 1937, also of pneumonia while visiting his mother while she was ill with pneumonia.
Funeral services have been set at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Sandin funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church south of Gruver, the Rev. C.B. Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in Wallingford cemetery.
