ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for John W. Pospisil, 68, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Lynn A. Potter officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville with full military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388, American Legion Post 91 and AMVETS Post 3391, all of Estherville. He died on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrrnan Funeral Home in Estherville with masonic services at 7 p.m.

John was born on January 11, 1935 in Alliance, Neb., the son of John and Bernice (Shelmadine) Pospisil. John attended the Winner, S.D., schools graduating from Winner High School in 1951.

After High school John served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He then went to college at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. graduating in 1960.

On May 27, 1954, John was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Key at Winner, S.D. After their marriage, the coupled lived in Estherville and Liberal, Kans., where he worked as a meat grader for U.S.D.A.

John enjoyed many hobbies such as woodworking, golfing and fishing. He enjoyed clowning and driving Indy Cars for the Shrine.

John was a member of United Methodist Church, VFW, Masonic Lodge, Consistory and Shrine.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Pospisil of Estherville; two sons, Neil and his wife, Jodi and their children, Amie and Sarah of Nicolett, Minn. and John Michael "Mick" and his wife, Tammy of Mankato, Minn.; daughter, Deb Stensrud and her husband, Dave and their children, Ryan, Alyssa, Gabby and Leslie of Des Moines; mother, Bernice Pospisil of Pierre, S.D.; two brothers, Dennis Pospisil of Winner and Loren Pospisil of Pierre.
