John Munson Passes to Reward
John Munson died at the hospital at Oakdale, Iowa, last Tuesday [May 29, 1917] and was brought to Estherville for burial Saturday. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, June 6, 1917)

Mr. John Munson who has been very poorly for several months died at the sanitarium at Oakdale, Iowa, last Tuesday, where he had been for the last six weeks. He was 41 years old at the time of his death. Twelve years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Thea Nilson from near Wallingford. The last eleven years they have lived in Estherville. He leaves a wife, one son and one daughter, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Munson near the State Line church, five brothers and three sisters, who are the following: Ole, Albert and Emma who are at home, Mrs. B. Nilson near Wallingford, Mrs. A.G. Anderson of Wilmot, North Dakota, and Peter of Sioux City. All arrived here to attend the funeral of their brother. The funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at Estherville last Saturday at one o’clock and at the State Line church at three o’clock. The remains were laid to rest at the Union State Line cemetery, Rev. J.J. Akre officiating.

The remains of John Munson were brought home for burial Saturday morning from Oakdale where he had gone some time ago for treatment. Mr. Munson has been in poor health for sometime past and it was thought he would receive relief there. The funeral services were held from the home here and also at the State Line church. The remains were laid to rest in the State Line cemetery [Dickinson county], the Rev. J.J. Aker officiating.

Mr. Munson was forty-two years old at the time of his death on May 29. He has resided in Estherville for several years and leaves a wife and two children to mourn the untimely death of a husband and father. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 6, 1917)
