Mrs. Nelson H. Wood, who has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Foshier, of this city, passed away Monday [January 24, 1916] evening, at the Foshier home in this city. Mrs. Wood, whose maiden name was Susanna Jane Walker, was born in Cass County, Illinois, on April 5, 1842. She moved with her parents to Iowa when she was but ten years of age. On October 15, 1859, she was united in marriage to Nelson H. Wood, and to this union five children were born, four daughters and one son. Mr. Wood died on November 11, 1879, and for several years past she has resided with her daughter. Mrs. Wood has been an active Christian woman since childhood. She has been a lover of family and home. While she was never a rugged woman she has been active and energetic and was at the time of her death, which came at the age of seventy-three years, nine months and nineteen days.

The funeral services were held from the Foshier home, and the remains were taken to Pleasantville for burial, this being her former home. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 26, 1916)
