Estherville – Funeral services for Gladys Schroeck, 96, of Estherville will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2002 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21 at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Gladys was born on June 3, 1905 in Estherville, the daughter of Jonas and Julia (Peterson) Amdal. She received her education in the Estherville schools.

On Feb. 27, 1935 Gladys was united in marriage to Roland A. Schroeck in Estherville. The family farmed in the Dolliver area for many years. In 1955 they moved into Estherville. Roland passed away on Saturday, Dec. 2, 1989.

Gladys is survived by three daughters, Joanne Wittrock of Estherville, Carol Hansen and her husband, Larry of Rochester, Minn. and Janice Schroeck of Estherville; one son, Charles Schroeck and his wife, Marilyn of Sanborn; three grandchildren, Dawn Schroeck of Woodbury, Minn., Sandi Hanning and her husband, Robert of Garland, Texas and Judy Vogt and her husband, Dave of Eden Prairie, Minn.; two sisters, Hazel Amdal of Estherville and Lena Owen of Guthrie Center and five step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six brothers and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 22, 2002)
